The Landlord must pay the Tenants $165.52 for a rent abatement and $48 for the application fee. The Landlord must also pay a $500 administrative fine to the LTB.
Tenants applied for an order determining that Landlord substantially interfered with their reasonable enjoyment of the rental unit or residential complex and harassed them. The Tenants claimed the Landlord pressured them to sign a new lease with a pet addendum or face eviction, pressured them to take on property maintenance, and pressured them to pay illegal deposits.
Landlord denied ever engaging in harassing conduct and stated that she and her witness felt they were polite and respectful in all their interactions.
Tenants testified that the impact of the Landlord's actions was that living in the unit became very uncomfortable and that their medical conditions became exacerbated due to the stress.
