The Tenant's request to review the previous order was granted, as he was unable to participate in the prior hearing due to technical issues. The Landlord's application to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant for non-payment of rent was granted, but the Tenant was given until August 31, 2024 to void the order by paying the full amount owing. If the Tenant does not void the order, the tenancy will be terminated, and the Tenant must move out by August 31, 2024.
Tenant lost job, had difficulty finding new one, and started new job last month
The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant requested a review of the previous order, stating he was unable to participate in the hearing due to technical issues. The Landlord was seeking a standard order, while the Tenant proposed a payment plan to address the substantial rent arrears.
The Landlord's legal representative requested a standard order, submitting that the Tenant has failed to make any payments to the Landlord almost 2 years and the amount outstanding is substantial.
Tenant testified that he lost his job and that is why the arrears started to accrue. He testified that finding a new job proved difficult because he worked in the transportation industry and had an infraction on his driving record.
