The Landlords' application to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to persistent late payment of rent is granted. The Tenants must vacate the rental unit by October 31, 2024. If they do not, the Landlords may file the order with the Sheriff for enforcement starting November 1, 2024. The Tenants must pay the Landlords $186 for the application filing fee.
Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to persistent late payment of rent. The Tenants were mother and son living in a two-bedroom condominium unit with the Tenant's 15-year-old son.
Landlords say persistent late payment has made their financial situation difficult and stressful to manage, as they have to borrow or use credit to cover expenses when the Tenants are late or do not pay.
Tenant says it has been a rough few years, with an abusive partner, health problems, and loss of child support. She plans to pay off arrears by cashing in an RESP and getting a private loan, but has not discussed this with Ontario Works.
